Last weeks Doctor Who (originally called ‘Phantoms of The Hex’) was probably one of the scariest there has been for a while. All sorts of horror references. Everything from The Haunting, through Poltergeist to Scooby Doo. It was a great one to work on with new DW director, Jamie Payne, who’s previous credits include The Hour.
As is the way with these things there were changes between storyboard and screen. The scene where the ‘Crooked Man’ approached the Doctor was altered. In essence it was the same but time and budget and story changes meant that certain things were altered. Featured here are the original boards for that scene. You will notice things like the over shoulder shot of the TARDIS which, if I remember correctly, didn’t feature as this would be yet another costly FX shot. There are also hands reaching out of the ground to pull the Doctor down but they were dropped and I guess are not entirely necessary.

Prior to this board the the whole ‘pick up’ of the Doctor by the TARDIS was going to be very different but, much as they liked my suggestions it was just not going to be feasible. So, for completists, here is the original version of the board showing how the Doctor was going to jump into the TARDIS Sc86 unused
