From TRANSFORMERS to TRANSFORMATION

For some time now some of you may have noticed a slight theme in the work I have been doing. For many I am associated withTransformers and not a lot else. Nothing wrong with that but there is always more than meets the eye…
Comics have always been a passion of mine and I have had the good fortune to work on some of my childhood favourite titles. Spiderman and The X-Men were two titles I grew up with. Here in the UK I have had the pleasure of working on other childhood favourites such as Action Man and more recently as storyboard artist for Doctor Who. All pretty good fun, eh? I was too old to play with Transformers when they emerged onto the toy scene but was happy to take it on as an illustration job when it was presented to me. Transformers has been good to me and it is a pleasure to be associated with something that has captured the imagination of so many people.
But there is always more to be had. A number of years ago and for various reasons I started looking at a variety of forms of personal development, counselling and philosophy. My interest in this area grew and I decided that at some point I would create a book or graphic novel that was an expression of what I had learned. It has been a long journey but as many of you know it has presented itself in the form of HORIZON. If you are not aware of this book then I would love you to check it out.

So where am I going with this. Well, HORIZON is only one part of the journey that I am on. Book one is out and the other two volumes will follow in due course. HORIZON is a very personal project and a reflection of many aspects of me, while at the same time being a ‘rights of passage’ story that is resonating with those who read it. The themes and concepts within the book are common to most people and so far seems to be ringing true .
The other thing that I am doing is getting out there and talking to people. I have recently set up a company with a colleague of mine. We are valteroni•wildman We offer seminars, workshops and 1-2-1 consults of personal development and business coaching. This is a project that I am very excited about and we are holding our first seminar in Central London at the Strand Palace Hotel on the weekend of the 23rd-24th February. Ok, so for comics fans that is going to clash with the London Supercon but I know where I would rather be, talking to a room full of people about the infinite potential in people and what’s possible in life. If this intrigues you in any way check out the website and drop us a line. We will be happy to answer any questions and we would love to see you there.
On the back of this work I have been invited to do a talk at the National Film and Television School to the Production Design MA students where I will be sharing some of my experiences as an illustrator and concept artist and the breakthroughs I have had. I will also be dealing with the question of how and who to be to get real power and pleasure behind it as well as how to deal with the barriers that come up and stop us from achieving all we want in life. Some of you may have seen my lecture at the British Science Museum entitled Transformers and the Robot Metaphor. I included some of that kind of content in that talk but only really touched the surface. Making the whole transformation and personal development topic interesting and relevant to people in the creative industries is an exciting opportunity and something that I will be taking out and about at some point.
So where are we at the moment with all this?
HORIZON is now available and you can get more information about that on the website where you can order a copy. Alternatively, just catch me at the next comic con and take a look at the book.
valteroni•wildman is up and running, with our first seminar in London next February. All information on the website
It’s going to be an interesting year and hopefully I will see you at one of our events.

Dr. Andrew Wildman in Theoretical Robotic Metamorphic Mechanics does have a nice ring to it.
