Transformers #81 and all that

July 25, 2011

Greeting :-)
Given the recent news that IDW and HASBRO have given the green light to the Transformers #81 project I guess I ought to do more regular updates on the the blog. There have been many amazingly flattering messages from people on here, on Facebook and on Twitter and I am sure that Simon (Furman) has been getting messages on his blog. All the news will come out as and when appropriate as to how the project came about, who is involved and what there is in store for those who are going to be reading it. IDW and HASBRO have requested we don’t give too much away and fair enough. Myself and Simon will be at the upcoming UK Transformers convention, Auto Assembly and will have a bit more to say about the project and will try to answer as many questions as possible. Until then I thought you might like to see an old page of artwork from the original Marvel Transformers series. Seems somehow appropriate.

First TF comic I’ll be getting after the last couple of years. Thanks in advance for the good job I know both of you will do.

I hope we don’t have too much given away for this new series. Back in the original Marvel run I didn’t even go in to my local comic shop to get the US issue – I just kept buying the UK issues. Even with the fact that #80 came out 6 months before #331,332. It was still good at the time to be surprised by the story when reprinted in the UK comic without going round getting the US printing & not getting the UK edition [which could have lead to lower sales if all the fans did that]. Maybe Titan are thinging about cashign into this & reprinting the comic in the UK? – also placing adverts for the Titan trades in there too – bit a free advertising for Titan & chance for them to increase sales of the original reprint trades.

Gah! That image just does things to me! The lighting, the deftness of line…what an image, WildVille.

More than happy to gush at you some more about this, Andrew. Go get ‘em.

Now, as exciting as this whole thing is (and believe me, I signed the petition and pimped it quite a lot), I’m hoping Titan or someone produce a UK newsagent edition so I can have it delivered to my door and complete the illusion that no time has passed since I was ten years old!

Really pleased that this is going ahead and I can’t wait to hear more news.

Very happy that the story is finally continuing, after all these years. Can’t wait to see what happens next!! And that picture is a perfect harmony between penciller and inker! Gorgeous. I wonder who added the smashed glasses, though… :P
